Who is LIFS? What is LIFS????

1) Who is LIFS: My story begins many years ago when I was in my house as a small child... One day I heard a noise coming from outside and I was surprised to hear a very loud siren coming from the Ronkonkoma FD.. I originally thought it was probably a police car, but my parents explained to me that it wasn't a police car, but a huge siren at the fire department, alerting all of the volunteers of a fire in town. I thought it sounded really cool, and years later I invested time into researching these old sirens. I found out lots of info on them, and I even figured out the models of the sirens!!! I was hooked... It became a hobby of mine. Eventually, in 2016 I started to take video clips of these audibles across Long Island, starting with the Diaphones at Hicksville FD. In 2017, I discovered an old website that had been shut down years prior about Long Island Audible Sirens and Horns. The message from the site was important to me, and the history behind them was astonishing.. I had hoped that maybe some day I could bring the website back.

1) What is LIFS: And so here we are with Long Island Fire Siren, which is basically a direct copy of Long Island Fire Alarm, just with a different domain. The goal of this site is to save the audibles on Long Island, and hopefully other places in the country as well. This site is also a hobby site, as I have wanted a website for all of my siren photos, videos, and information. There is many different access points on this site to see such as Photo and Audio galleries, Knowledge on Sirens and Horns, etc....
